Charyn Canyon is something else. Its scale is just massive-it’s hard to really grasp until you’re there. All those strange geological shapes make it an awesome place for excursions, especially if you have a camera.

Tamgaly Tas
Tamgaly Tas is where you can see ancient petroglyphs dating all the way back to the Bronze Age. These aren’t just rock carvings. They’re a window into the art and culture of the people who lived in Kazakhstan thousands of years ago.
Turkestan Region
The Turkestan Region has a ton of historical monuments. The biggest one is probably the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A trip out here gives you a real perspective on the area’s long history.
