Fujairah faces the Gulf of Oman, not the Persian Gulf. That changes what a hotel stay here looks like. The sea is open. The water is clearer than in Dubai. The Hajar Mountains drop almost straight into it. The hotel stock is small: a handful of beach resorts on the corniche and in Dibba, a cluster of city hotels around Fujairah Mall, and not much in between. Below are ten of them, sorted roughly from the best-rated beach resort down to the budget end. For each one you get the guest score, the distance to the sea and the trade-offs worth knowing before booking.
Two things worth understanding first. Fujairah city is about 120 km from Dubai. The drive takes 90 minutes to two hours on the E84 or E102. Most visitors fly into Dubai and come across by car or the E700 bus. And “beach hotel” here means one of two areas: Umbrella Beach and the corniche in Fujairah city itself, or the long sandy stretch at Dibba Al Fujairah, 50 km north, where the snorkelling is. City hotels are cheaper and closer to the mall and the fort. Every one of them needs a car or taxi to reach the water.
Picking from a list matters more here than in any other emirate, and our UAE hotel guest rating study explains why: Fujairah has the widest spread between its best and worst-rated hotels in the country.
Palace Beach Resort Fujairah

Five stars. A 9/10 guest score from nearly 2,000 reviews. And the only hotel on this list that is both in Fujairah city and on its own private beach. Umbrella Beach, the public one, is under a kilometre away. Rooms are large by local standards. The ones facing the sea are worth the supplement, because the mountain-side rooms look over the road.
Outdoor pool, gym, a garden between the buildings and the sand, free parking, a kids’ club. Breakfast is a buffet with vegetarian and vegan options. Reception works around the clock in English, Arabic and Russian. The Russian is not decorative. A large share of the winter guests come from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, so expect that mix at the pool. For a straightforward beach week in Fujairah, this is the default choice.
Royal M Hotel Fujairah by Gewan

A five-star city hotel with an 8/10 score from more than 3,600 reviews. That makes it the most-reviewed hotel in the emirate. It sits next to Fujairah Mall, so the cinema, supermarket and food court are a two-minute walk. Rooms are modern and most look towards the Hajar Mountains. There is no beach. The sea is a ten-minute drive.
Facilities are the full set: outdoor pool, spa, fitness centre, free parking, minibar and seating area in every room. The tour desk in the lobby sells the standard day trips. For Fujairah that means a Snoopy Island snorkel in Dibba, a 4×4 run into the wadis, or a boat trip from the port. Fujairah Fort and the Fujairah Museum are a few minutes away by car. The corniche is the place for an evening walk once the heat drops. Treat it as a comfortable base rather than a resort.
Al Bahar Hotel & Resort

Five stars on paper, 8/10 from about 2,100 reviews. Umbrella Beach is 1.9 km away: a short taxi, or a 25-minute walk in the cooler months. Despite the “Resort” in the name there is no beach of its own. What you get instead is a quieter location than the mall hotels, an outdoor pool, gym, garden and free parking.
Rooms have air conditioning, a safe and a flat-screen TV. Some face the city. None face the sea. Breakfast can be buffet or continental. There is a sauna, a terrace, a restaurant and a shared lounge, plus concierge and currency exchange at the desk. Sensible middle option if the Palace is full or over budget and you still want a hotel that feels like a holiday rather than a business stop.
Doubletree By Hilton Fujairah City

Hilton’s city property, 8/10 from over 2,100 reviews, 1.4 km from Fujairah Mall. This is the hotel for people who are in Fujairah for the port, the oil terminals or a meeting. It shows in the details. A proper business set-up, a licensed bar, and a breakfast that runs to a full English alongside the buffet and continental options.
Outdoor pool, fitness centre, spa with sauna, free private parking, free Wi-Fi, minibar and flat-screen TV in the rooms. No beach and no sea view. The coast is a short drive. Of the three mall-area five-stars, this one is usually the most predictable in quality. That is exactly what you want for a two-night stop, and not what you want for a week’s holiday.
Nour Arjaan by Rotana-Fujairah

Rotana’s Arjaan brand means serviced apartments, and that is what this is: a four-star apartment hotel in the centre, rated 8/10 by almost 1,200 guests. Every suite has a full kitchen with a hob, fridge and washing machine. For a family or a stay of a week or more, that changes the economics completely. Fujairah Beach is a five-minute drive. The mall is closer.
Upper floors look across to the Hajar Mountains on one side and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on the other. Guests get the Bodylines gym and an outdoor pool with a shallow section for children, plus the Murjan Café and a bar. Coming to work remotely for a month, or with two kids who will not eat hotel buffets for seven days? This is the one.
Dibba Mountain Park Resort

The only entry outside Fujairah city. Dibba Al Fujairah is 50 km north on the same coast, at the border with Oman’s Musandam. The resort sits up in the hills 2.9 km from Dibba Beach. Five stars, 8/10 from more than 1,000 guests. Some rooms look down over the town to the sea. The rest face rock, which at sunrise is not a bad thing either.
Outdoor pool, gym, garden, terrace, free parking, breakfast à la carte, continental or American. The point of staying here is what is outside. Wadi tracks behind Dibba. Snorkelling at Snoopy Island and Dibba Rock, ten minutes down the road. Dhow trips into the Musandam fjords from Dibba port, for which you need your passport on the Omani side. You will need a car. Nothing is walkable, and taxis in Dibba are thin on the ground compared with Fujairah city.
Boutique Hotel

Three stars, 8/10 from about 130 reviews, 3.3 km from Fujairah Mall. The name is generic. The score is good for the price bracket, and the facilities list reads like a much bigger hotel: outdoor pool, gym, garden, free parking, sauna and hot tub overlooking the garden, a kids’ playground, table tennis, squash and tennis courts.
Rooms have flat-screen TVs and some have mountain views. The restaurant does an odd but workable mix of Irish and local dishes, with vegetarian and halal options. The hotel runs a free airport shuttle. That matters less than it sounds, since Fujairah airport has very few flights and most guests arrive from Dubai. Good value if you plan to spend your days out at the beach or in the mountains and only need a clean pool to come back to.
Fortis Hotel Fujairah

A four-star with a 7/10 score from more than 1,100 guests, 2.3 km from Umbrella Beach. The score is a step down from the hotels above, and the reviews explain why. The building is showing its age. Service is uneven. Against that, the price is usually well below the five-stars, and the location between the corniche and the centre is convenient.
Outdoor pool, fitness centre, sauna, a bar, a business corner and free Wi-Fi throughout. Breakfast comes as buffet, à la carte or continental. The restaurant menu runs across American, Chinese and Indian dishes with vegetarian, lactose-free and halal options. Reasonable for a night or two on the way to Dibba or Oman. Check recent reviews before booking a week.
Dream Point Hotel

Three stars, 7/10 from over 700 reviews, 1.9 km from Umbrella Beach. This is the budget pick of the list. A plain, clean hotel with a restaurant, a bar, a small spa with a hot tub, free private parking, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour desk. Nothing here will surprise you. In either direction.
No beach and no view. A taxi to the corniche is a five-minute ride and costs little. Makes sense for a couple of nights if the beach itself is what you came for and the room is only for sleeping. Families and anyone wanting a pool day at the hotel should look at the Boutique Hotel or Nour Arjaan instead.
V Hotel Fujairah

Four stars and a 6/10 score, the lowest on this list. It comes from more than 3,500 reviews, so the number is well established rather than a fluke. People book it for one reason. The rooftop pool has an open view over the Gulf of Oman, and no other city hotel in Fujairah has that. The hotel is 4.2 km from Fujairah Mall and rooms face either the sea or the mountains.
Rooms come with a seating area, flat-screen TV, kettle, bathrobes and slippers. There is free Wi-Fi, a sun terrace, a 24-hour front desk and car rental on site. The low score is mostly about maintenance and housekeeping, not location. Worth it for a night if the rooftop photo is the goal. Not the place for a week.
Which One to Book
For a beach holiday in Fujairah city the answer is the Palace Beach Resort. The gap to the next option is large. For Dibba and the snorkelling, Dibba Mountain Park Resort with a rental car. For a family or a long stay, Nour Arjaan for the kitchens. For a business trip or an overnight stop, Doubletree or Royal M, whichever is cheaper that week. Below 7/10 the savings are real. So are the compromises. With Dubai two hours away, it is worth asking if a budget hotel here beats a day trip from a better hotel elsewhere.
Getting There and When to Go
Fujairah is the UAE’s diving coast. Dibba Rock and Snoopy Island in Dibba are shallow enough for snorkellers. Martini Rock and the Inchcape wrecks off Khor Fakkan suit Open Water divers. Snorkelling and diving trips in Fujairah run year-round, with the calmest water and the best visibility from October to April. On land there is Fujairah Fort, the restored Al-Heil Fort, and the Al-Bidyah mosque north of the city. Al-Bidyah dates to the 15th century and is the oldest surviving mosque in the country. The Hajar Mountains behind the coast have wadi tracks for 4×4 trips and a few marked hiking routes near Wadi Wurayah.
October to April is the season. Daytime air sits between 20 and 30°C. The sea stays warm enough to swim all winter. From May to September temperatures pass 40°C and the humidity on this coast is worse than in Dubai. Beach hotels drop their rates by half for a reason. Pools are chilled, but the beach itself is unusable in the middle of the day.
Getting there without a car is possible. The E700 bus leaves Union Square bus station in Dubai for Fujairah roughly every hour. It takes two to two and a half hours and costs 25 dirhams, about $7. Inside the emirate, taxis are cheap and easy to find at hotels and the mall. They are not on the street in Dibba. A rental car from Dubai airport is the most practical option if you want the mountains or Dibba at all. Roads are good and fuel is inexpensive. Public buses between Fujairah, Dibba and Khor Fakkan exist but run infrequently.
